Neighbors Feeding Neighbors Fund

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

Food insecurity doesn’t always look the same. It can mean an empty pantry, a senior who needs a delivered meal, a student who doesn’t have enough food at home for the weekend, or a community meal program trying to serve more people with rising food costs.

The Neighbors Feeding Neighbors Fund provides flexible support to local organizations and programs working to increase access to nutritious food in Ellis, Rooks, and Trego counties. Give Fest gifts will help build the fund so it can respond to food-security needs throughout our communities.

Mission

The Neighbors Feeding Neighbors Fund strengthens local hunger-relief efforts by providing flexible support to organizations and initiatives that help people access nutritious food in Ellis, Rooks, and Trego counties.

Profile

The Neighbors Feeding Neighbors Fund was created to give our communities a dedicated resource for addressing food insecurity.

Grants from the fund may support a wide range of local food-security efforts, including:

• Food pantries and food box distribution

• Meals on Wheels, senior meal programs, and community meal sites

• School nutrition needs, including unpaid lunch balances, extra milk, and snacks

• Cooking classes, community gardens, and other creative solutions

• Soup kitchens and expanded meal services

• Other programs that increase access to nutritious food for local residents

The fund is designed to be flexible and responsive, allowing the Heartland Community Foundation to support organizations when needs arise—not just during a traditional grant cycle.

Your Give Fest gift helps build the resource behind the people doing the work. The more the Neighbors Feeding Neighbors Fund grows, the more it can grant to local organizations helping keep tables full across the Heartland.
