Mission
The mission of the Trego County Historical Society is to explore and preserve historical information, facts, collections and documents of the county. The society promotes knowledge and appreciation of heritage for education purposes and shares collection of historical items that illustrate history of the county and area.Profile
The Trego County Historical Society's journey started in 1969, when the society was chartered with the purpose of exploring and preserving the history of the county and surrounding area. The museum showcases an array of exhibits from clothing to household utensils, and from agriculture tools to medical instruments, along with our military collection. A one-room school house depicts the early country school days. The new Ag Heritage Building was developed to highlight the vital importance that farming and ranching were to the county.
We offer tours and programs, which have been given to the local school, scouts, nuring home residents, community organizations, and family groups. In addition, the society has been featured on both KWCH and KSN TV programs and on the Smoky Hill Public TV - Traveling Kansas and the Cottonwood Connections series.
The society assists individuals on researching local family genealogy and county history.
