Specific Need

Our Story

Did you know that St. Joseph Parish was established in 1878 and is the oldest operating Catholic Church in Hays, Kansas?  Preserving this church and the value of its rich history is important to our community.

Here are some of the ministries of St. Joseph Parish:

1. St. Joseph Food Pantry & Diaper Closet opened its doors in January of 2001, and provides food/diaper support to those in our county who are in need of assistance on the first and third Saturdays of each month, from 9 AM - Noon.   
2. St. Joseph & St. Michael the Archangel Cemeteries -- St. Joseph Parish manages and operates both Catholic cemeteries in Hays, keeping them mowed and in good order for all who come to pay their respects.
3. Our church is the oldest operating Catholic Church is Hays KS. Preserving the church structure and its iconic stained-glass windows is a high priority as well preserving its history for all to share.

Our Mission

As a community with strong heritage that is rooted in faith, our mission is, Under the protection of St. Joseph, and ever grateful to the Capuchin Franciscan Friars, we strive to foster a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, worship, and the celebration of the Sacraments. We are dedicated to love and care of all God's people in their physical, educational, and spiritual needs through the stewardship of time, talent, and treasure.

The goal of Give Fest is to help raise funds to keep our organization and its ministries strong today and well into the future.

Individual donations will go into an endowment fund (principal is not touched)

Matching funds will go into a non-endowed fund for immediate needs. 

Profile

Donation Details To qualify for the matching funds,  donations must be received by the Heartland Community Foundation by October 10. There are three ways to give:

1. Give EARLY --bring your donation to St. Joseph Parish office by October 6^th before 4 PM, or send by mail no later than September 30th.
2. Give ONLINE from October 1 to 7, by using the link on this page.
3. COME visit us at the Give Fest Event at Hays Rec Commission, 1105 Canterbury Dr, from 9 AM - 6 PM on October 7.

If you would prefer to donate by check, please put "Give Fest" on the memo line and make the check payable to "St. Joseph Parish Hays Fund". If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ann Pfeifer, Business Administrator at 785-625-7356.

Any payments received after October 7, are not eligible for matching funds.
