Specific Need
The Trego County Youth Action Council is raising funds to continue its mission of empowering youth to lead and support meaningful projects in their community. In 2024, the Trego YAC proudly granted funds to The Well, the Trego Food Pantry, and the Kelly Plaza Project. With your support, they hope to expand their impact—both by continuing to fund local efforts and by launching youth-led projects of their own. Your contribution will help ensure that Trego County and TCHS students have a voice in shaping a stronger, more connected community.
Mission
The mission of the Youth Action Council is to empower youth to be involved in community decision-making, encourage active participation in local initiatives, cultivate a spirit of philanthropy, and foster a deeper sense of pride in the communities they call home.
Profile
The Youth Action Council (YAC) empowers high school students in Ellis, Rooks, and Trego counties to become thoughtful leaders and active participants in their communities. Through this Heartland Community Foundation initiative, students learn about philanthropy by reviewing real grant applications, allocating funds to youth-focused causes, and identifying local needs from a peer perspective.
Each county council is also leading a hands-on project to address a specific challenge in their area — from mental health awareness to community connection. Along the way, members build skills in collaboration, decision-making, and civic leadership. A gift to YAC during Give Fest supports youth-led grantmaking, service projects, and the growth of the next generation of changemakers.
