Our Story: Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 5 through young adulthood in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

Managed by the Downtown Hays Development Corporation, this vibrant area is home to a variety of local businesses, restaurants, and cultural events. Feeding Hays at St. Michael’s
Our Story: Feeding Hays, a program of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, provides free weekly community meals to those in need, serving over 200 individuals each week. What began as a simple act of kindness has grown into a vital service, offering nourishment and a sense of community to anyone who walks through our doors. As the need continues to grow, we are expanding our efforts to offer additional meal days and serve even more people in Hays, ensuring that no one goes hungry.

Boy Scouts Coronado Area Council
Our Story: The Coronado Area Council continues its proud heritage of serving community organizations across the 32 counties that comprise our service area. More than 3,700 youth participate in the Scouting and Exploring programs provided by nearly 1,500 dedicated volunteer leaders.

Our Mission: The Coronado Area Council is committed to supporting every pack, troop, crew and post in their efforts to teach character, leadership and citizenship to every youth available. Cancer Council of Ellis County
Our Story: The Cancer Council of Ellis County serves people diagnosed with cancer through financial assistance, equipment loans, nutritional supplement vouchers. Additionally, we continue to educate residents on cancer related topics, such as sunscreen use. From a client: “The Cancer Council is wonderful in helping to ease the worry and exhaustion of navigating not only a devastating health condition, but also the financial stress. We are so grateful for a bit of respite from the many ongoing challenges we face."

First Baptist Church of Hays
Our Story: We preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ through various ministry opportunities to help people grow in their relationship with Jesus and through activities that serve those in need. Matthew 28:19 tells us to go and make disciples and teach them. In response to this call, First Baptist Church of Hays will also open a cold weather shelter this year for unhoused persons, extending our mission of compassion to the most vulnerable in our community.

Many of the resources are "hidden gems" and until we need a service or resource we often don't know where to turn. Our mission is to connect you with what you need--services for children, food resources, pregnancy counseling, employment services and transportation services--all are within reach and available in the community.
